All foreign visitors desiring to enter Germany must have a valid passport. You may need to obtain a visa before coming to Germany.
Please follow the link below to determine if you need a visa:
Visa for Chinese Scientists
For a visit up to 3 months, Chinese citizens have to apply for a "Schengen Visa - Germany" at the local Visa service "VFS Global" in China and follow the instructions on their website: www.vfsglobal.cn/Germany/China/English/Short-Stay-Visa.html
Time needed to apply for your visa
Foreign participants should contact the Federal Republic of Germany Missions in their home country as soon as possible
to determine their particular visa requirements. As a rule, missions require between two and ten working days to decide on an application for a short stay visa. Applications for visas entitling the holder to a longer stay or to take up gainful employment may take several months to process.
During the peak travel season there may be a waiting period for making an application to a German mission. Persons requiring a visa to enter Germany should therefore submit their applications in good time. If you are travelling to the Schengen Area for the first time, you should certainly apply for your visa in good time to make sure that you can travel on the dates you planned.
